Stephen Boyd only did a handful of TV movies and pilots during his career. This one, Carter’s Army, particularly stands out as an excellent one with a great cast. He stars with Robert Hooks, a very young Richard Pryor and also Billy Dee Williams in a very interesting WWII drama about an all black company assigned to protect an important strategic bridge in Germany. Boyd plays Carter, the Captain assigned to the mission, as a Southern bigot from Georgia who slowly comes to appreciate the men under his command. It came out as the ABC TV Movie of the Week on August 4, 1970.
